Babybay® Co-sleeping bed test and review 🇬🇧

Baby bay® next to parent bed
Baby bay® next to parent bed

Highlight: Baby is so close and so easy to feed at night without worrying about them falling out of your bed. The materials are lovely and of good quality.

To consider: It is not cheap. I used it for six months but bought it second hand from a friend. You can often also rent this kind of bed if you are not going to use it for long. Baby bay® recommend using it as a bench or table when the children grow up. While I fully endorse this kind of adaptation to avoid cost and waste for us customers, it really is such a lovely bed that I am passing mine on to my sister-in-law.

My first child slept in a lovely cradle next to my bed. She was right next to me, but at a different height. This meant that I had to lean down to pick her up and as you can imagine this became quite painful for my back. For our second baby I wanted to have the baby right next to me in a co-sleeping bed of her own. After speaking to some friends, I came across the Babybay® bed. I’ve got the technical details here from amazon uk if you need them.

Easy to adjust the height of the Babybay®
Easy to adjust the height of the Babybay®

I chose the bed because I wanted to be able to adjust it to our bed height. Our bed frame is quite low, but the mattress is really high, but this is no problem since you can adjust the height of the attachment of the baby’s bed to your bed, and then also the mattress height of the Babybay® up to the height of your mattress. It becomes an almost seamless surface between you and your baby. I bought my Babybay® second hand from a friend of mine and she happened to have the maxi bed. The length is the same as the normal Babybay®, it is just wider and therefore also suitable for twins if you have them. I found it to be spacious, but I am sure my baby would also have been fine in the normal size too.

We used the Babybay® for six months before we moved the baby into her own room. She still had lots of space and would have been happy in it for longer. She wasn’t yet fully mobile, so she could not yet sit or crawl into my bed and fall out, which is something you would need to consider if you kept the baby in this bed for longer and perhaps buy the side bars to make it into a cot. I was really happy to have the Babybay® as a bedside cot and a safe option for co-sleeping with my newborn. You can be so close to them but everyone still has some space! Unless of course you leave the room for a minute…
